Pandemic Bright Spots 1

Everything is Amazing

I will not give a history of the world over the last 18 months, just observations from my personal experiences. There has been a shift of consciousness that has given thinking people an opportunity to make more from less. I want to talk about one man who has taken the opportunities presented by lockdown to do things he would never have thought of before. Better yet, he is encouraging his readers to do the same.

Everything is Amazing -- Mike Sowden
Mike Sowden

I have been following Mike Sowden, a travel writer. It wasn’t just the travel writing that interested me, but his writing style. He produced a free 5 part series called “Storytelling for Bloggers” that I found a most exciting and informative resource. I must reread it very soon.

Like everyone (including myself), he disappeared off the map for 2020. Britain had, and still has, a worse lockdown than we experienced in Australia. It must have been lonely alone in a remote area. From that strange soil, Mike grew a need to understand the curiosity. By January 2021, he had published the first in his series “Everything is Amazing”. Before you surf over – remember to read the articles from the bottom up.

Follow Mike research on how his father could work on aircraft when he was colourblind. More recently, there is a fascinating and fun article on the workings of Wikipedia.

His first challenge to his readers was to explore your nearest mile every day for a week, discovering something new every day. Sound boring? It isn’t. There is so much we don’t see because it is right in front of us. And the challenges get better.

There is little more I can say. Visit and read for yourself. Be prepared to be amazed.
